The Weeknd Scrapped An Entire Album Before Releasing 'My Dear Melancholy'

weeknd-time Abel has done a rare interview with TIME where he discusses shifting to Calabasas from Beverly Hills to escape the constant attention, not wanting to talk about personal life except in his music and more. “I don’t think I could ever do that again,” he said when asked why he moved his residence. “I always feel like someone’s watching me.”

The multi platinum artist also revealed that he had a whole new album recorded before things in his personal life took a turn (Selena Gomez breakup) but he scrapped it to release the 6 song EP My Dear Melancholy. “It was very upbeat—it was beautiful,” he continued, adding that we will never get to hear it.

“I don’t want to open that Pandora’s box, talking about relationships,” the singer said about not talking about his personal life in public except when he’s making music. “It’s therapeutic, you want to get it out. It’s like you close a chapter.”
