Take it back to the late 90's, Frankie J was the one of the singers for an American/Mexican group called Kumbia Kings. The group was originally formed by Selena's brother A.B. Quintanilla.

In 2003, he released the R&B-flavoured album "What's A Man To Do," finding a hit single with the track "Don't Wanna Try."

Later that year he featured on the hit song "Suga Suga," with Baby Bash, and cemented his name on radio.

Frankie J continued to drop two albums + bangers during the mid-late 2000's, teaming up with Baby Bash again for the track Obsesion (No Es Amor), which ended up at #3 on the Hot 100 charts, How To Deal, and More Than Words.
