4 Things You Need to Know About Kolohe Kai

After a successful tour across Aotearoa this year, Good Vibes Summer festival will be hitting the sunny coast of Gisborne in summer 2020.

Presented by Flava, Pato Entertainment, Audiology and Fabrik, the Good Vibes Summer Festival will feature some of Aotearoa’s best live acts, including Stan Walker, L.A.B, House of Shem, Ardijah, Tomorrow People, 1814, Three Houses Down & General Fiyah, Lion Rezz, Swiss and Tree. Joining this incredible line up is international island reggae star Kolohe Kai, hailing all the way from Hawaii and Australian legends Paua.

1. Kolohe Kai Is Roman De Peralta.

Music fact alert! Kolohe Kai is not a band; it's actually Roman De Peralta, a talented singer and songwriter. He and his producers are behind the creative process of every song and he jams with friends and a variety of other musicians.

2. Roman Is A Musical Competition Discovery.

Kolohe Kai and his band won the 2009 Brown Bags To Stardom Talent and Music Video Contest, wherein high school students had to write an original song, record it, then produce a music video. Check out the winning video here.

3. Roman Loves The Māori Culture.

During an interview with Te Kāea, the singer said he loves that everytime he visits New Zealand he receives a “beautiful” welcoming.

“For the last eight years Kolohe Kai has been coming to New Zealand and I feel like every time we come there’s either a haka or there’s some kind of beautiful way that New Zealand shows their love to Kolohe Kai,”

4. Kolohe Kai Won The Award For Album Of The Year.

This past February of 2019, Kolohe Kai released his fourth full length Album entitled, ‘Summer To Winter.’ It took the world by storm, becoming the new favoUrite for fans all over. ‘Summer To Winter’ won “Album of the Year” for the Island Music Awards.
