Ariana Grande, Lil Nas X , & Cardi B Score MTV VMAS Nominations

MTV has unveiled the nominations for the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards.

Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift lead this year’s show with 10 nods each in categories including Video of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop.

First-time VMA nominee Billie Eilish earns nine nominations, while Lil Nas X scores eight including Video of the Year and Best New Artist.

Last year’s leader Cardi B racks up four nominations in categories including Artist of the Year, Best Pop, Best Hip Hop, and Best Dance. Other multiple nominees include Halsey, Camila Cabello, Drake, Anderson .Paak, FKA twigs, H.E.R., and Solange.

In the hotly-contested Video of the Year category, nominees include 21 Savage’s “a lot” featuring J. Cole, Billie Eilish’s “Bad Guy,” Ariana Grande’s “thank u, next,” Jonas Brothers’ “Sucker,” Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road (Remix)” featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, and Taylor Swift’s “You Need to Calm Down.”

The nominees for Best Hip Hop include 2 Chainz’ “Rule the World” featuring Ariana Grande, 21 Savage’s “a lot” featuring J. Cole, Cardi B’s “Money,” DJ Khaled’s “Higher” featuring Nipsey Hussle and John Legend, Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road (Remix)” featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, and Travis Scott’s “SICKO MODE” featuring Drake.

Fans can vote for their favorites across 14 categories by visiting vma.mtv.com until Aug. 15. The VMAs, hosted by comedian Sebastian Maniscalco, will air live from Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, on Monday, Aug. 26.
