YG Denies Participation In Police Shooting Involving His SUV

2019 has been a rough year for YG so far. His longtime friend and collaborator Nipsey Hussle was shot and killed in March. Then late last month, his affiliate Slim 400 was shot nine times in Compton, although he survived.

Now, the Compton-bred rapper is looking at more legal trouble after the LAPD discovered his bulletproof Cadillac Escalade was reportedly used in an officer-involved shooting.

YG has an alibi for the night his bulletproof Cadillac Escalade was used in a deadly deputy-involved shooting in Compton. The vehicle is registered in YG’s government name — Keenon Jackson — but TMZ reports it’s primarily used as a company vehicle.

YG was unaware it was out the night of July 3 and had no idea what had transpired until after the fact.

“I was nowhere near the scene of this incident,”he tweeted. “I was in Hollywood recording in the studio all day. I was there until after midnight on the 4th of July and didn’t learn of these events until after they happened!”

When police were called to scene, they were expecting an unruly DUI suspect. Instead, they wound up responding to a deputy-involved shooting after a bystander was killed in the crossfire. A pursuit with the Escalade ensued and ended in Inglewood.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department revealed more shots were fired during the chase. The suspects shot at deputies and a Sheriff’s helicopter. During the melee, an officer was shot but soon treated and released.

At least one suspect was taken into custody while one remains at large.

YG’s attorneys have already spoke to law enforcement.
