On October 9th, R&B superstar Trey Songz took the world Back Home with his long-awaited eighth studio album.

Back Home claimed the top spot on this week’s Billboard ‘Top R&B Albums’ chart, becoming Songz’s fifth consecutive #1.

Released under Atlantic Records, the LP included 22 songs, featuring guest collaborations from Summer Walker, Ty Dolla $ign, Davido and Swae Lee.

In 2017, the Grammy-nominated singer previously led the chart with Tremaine the Album, with 67,000 album-equivalent units, including 45,000 pure sales. All eight of his studio albums have now debuted inside the top 10 on this chart.

In a recent interview with Uproxx, the singer described Back Home as his best project to date:

“A lot of people are saying it feels like the old me, and no disrespect to that because I did want you to have that feeling, but old me couldn’t sing the way I can sing now. I feel like this is my best vocal project, I feel like it’s the most cohesive project and I feel like it’s the project where I didn’t think about the expectations as much as in the other projects.

Prior to the release of Back Home, Trey Songz surrounded himself with family, friends, and protesting for social justice in his hometown of Petersburg Virginia.

The singer has definitely exceeded all expectations on the latest project and has sold over 25 million records worldwide in singles and albums to date, solidifying his position as one of the R&B greats of today.

Back Home is available now for streaming and purchase on all platforms and services.
