Jeremy Pope is a 28-year-old American Broadway theater performer, actor and singer from Orlando. In 2020, he landed his first major screen role in Ryan Murphy’s miniseries, Hollywood, which premiered on May 1, 2020.

The Netflix drama was met with universal praise prior to release, narrating the story of aspiring actors and filmmakers in the entertainment industry following World War II. The highly anticipated miniseries tackles the concepts of gender inequality, sexuality and racism in the era of the Civil Rights movement, aiming to illustrate an altered version of Hollywood.

Among a star-studded cast of acclaimed Hollywood heavyweights, Holland Taylor, Jim Parsons and many more, Jeremy Pope captured the viewers’ attention with a ground-breaking performance as Archie Coleman

Archie is a script writer in the 50s, combatting homophobia and racism while trying to make it in the film industry. In an interview with ELLE, he elaborated on his personal connection with Archie Coleman throughout filming,

“It was easy to put myself in Archie’s shoes. Being a black man in business, you sometimes wonder if there’s enough room or space for you to be able to use your gift.”

Hollywood is Pope’s debut screen role. However, he is no stranger to critical acclaim with a tremendously accomplished track record in the theater world.

In 2019, he made history becoming one of only six actors to ever receive Tony Award nominations for two separate categories in the same year. Pope’s nominations for Pharus in Choir Boy and Eddie Kendrick’s in Ain’t Too Proud made him a contender for Best Actor in a Play and Best Featured Actor in a Musical at the 2019 Tony Awards.

Outside of his work in acting and Broadway theatre, he writes and records his own music. Pope received a Grammy Award nomination in 2019 in the Best Musical Theater Album category for Ain’t Too Proud

On May 7, 2020, he released his fourth independent single, a cover of Cyndi Lauper’s “Time After Time” on all streaming platforms. He currently has over 11 thousand monthly listeners on Spotify with almost 300,000 total streams across his channel.

Most recently, the Hollywood Reporter announced that the Tony Award nominee will star in a recurring role in the upcoming third season of Pose, another Ryan Murphy series.

The Rising Broadway star continuously showcases his talent across the theatre, film and music industry, cementing himself as one of the most promising entertainers right now.
